This band is featured on the Comcast web site today. It's country with a twist. Sasha on Pedal steel is pretty cool.

They were on CBS show "60 Minutes" this Sunday. You could hear the pedal steel very well on the opening first minute of the story. Story did mention and describe the dobro, only a second of video showing the pedal steel.

They were on the Opry several months ago, back when the Opry was on a channel my cable gave me. They are very good musicians and entertainers. They could do good stuff from bluegrass to modern country. And I loved it when they broke into a hard driving Russian number.

I got to see them last summer at the Opry. They were scary good! Dangerous harmony. I guess they are all the kids of Soviet physicists and such, thus being of a little better economic class, which provided them with classical training. It shows, though they try to hide it by playing country. ;P

The best part is when they talk; they fade from a Russian accent to a "Nashville" accent, and back in the course of a sentence. Its wonderful.

Yes, Sasha plays nice steel and dynamite dobro! Though this band has just "caught on" in this country in the past year, I heard some radio tapes of them 3-4 years ago, and was blown away when I found out they were all young Russians! I was very surprised they didn't get a recording contract until last year.

You are talking of Bering Strait. The Harmony singer was singing harmony and didn't even know our language. They are talented musicians and come from very educated parents. They do Bluegrass shows to jazz fest, to CW concerts. What talent!!!!
