That sure is bad news. I had the pleasure of backing Mr. Dudley up twice in the 70's and 80's and it was pure pleasure. No hassles and fun. He was in it for the gusto.

This is AWFUL!! I know it can't stop but,when's it gonna,at least,lighten up a little. This has realy been a bummer year for the arts,especially Country Music. Dave helped me move into the house I,now,live in.

Dave sat in with our band in the mid 80s. When I played the signature guitar lick for "6 Days" he looked back and gave me a big thumbs up. Lots of Minneapolis players knew and played with him in the '60s.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Dudley a few years ago at a Rock 'N Roll/Country Reunion show in St. Cloud, MN. This is held every year to my knowledge, and they pack in the people. Many local bands and those few who are from the area who made it the big time, such as Dave and Bobby Vee, show up. A sad day for all fans of Dave's music.

Rest in Peace Dave, and thanks for the many years of great music.

Isn't this a real sad year for us? We just had to learn about Gary Stewart and now more sad news.

So many legendary artists have been called away this year, they will be able to put a great show together up there with Dave, Gary, Johnny & June, Floyd Tillman, Redd Stewart, Wesley Tuttle, Johnny Paycheck, Don Gibson, Rusty Draper, Bill Carlisle, Rosalie Allen, Jim McReynolds, Wilma Burgess,...

But I know fur sure they will have some great steel backing by guys like Speedy and Bob!!!

Dave was always one of my favorites, and he left us with so much really good music. I enjoyed listening to him sing "Fly Away Again", You've Got to Cry, and Truck Driving Son of a Gun. Remember him being on the Wheeling Jamboree with Dick Curless for their truck drivers weekend. RIP Dave.

Here's Dave in Grand Prairie, somewhere in the Great White North, in 1982. One of the nicest guys in the business, and I'm happy I got to back him up on several occasions. He could sing the heck out of a ballad, too.

I was playing a show somewhere in Germany that Dave was on and crowd loved him. He was still a BIG star over there. It was great to witness that moment. As Cal said he could sing a ballad. One I remember was "Ink Drys Quicker Than Tears"

I was very fortunate to work in Dave's band from 1967-1970. Dave was the first "Major artist" I ever worked with. He could sing the trucker songs and then turn around and sing some great ballads. He was a blast to travel with. I believe I was about 23 when I went to work with him, and he sure tought me alot about the road and how to survive it. I'm sure going to miss him.
