I played a show tonight (Sat. 11/29/03) with a very fine young man named Jason Allen who is having some success down here on the Texas music charts.

I would like to commend my friend Tommy Detamore who recorded Jason's CD at his Cherry Ridge Studio and played on it as well...it is a fine work indeed.

Jason is a very sincere and talented young singer/songwriter who plays traditional country music and is exposing a lot of the teenagers and college-aged folks here in Texas to what REAL country music is supposed to sound like.

My friend Russ Rickman plays steel for him in his road band and he is helping to keep lots of good steel happening out there in the trenches.

Thanks to Jason and a few others, I'm proud to say that traditional country is alive and well down here in Texas!!!

Kudos to Jason, Tommy and Russ -

Jody

Hey JC, you’re right about Jason. He’s a down to earth, talented singer / songwriter of real traditional country music. And Tommy Detamore really did a great job not only on steel but on guitar as well.

Jason will have another CD out later this year or the first of next year. Tommy played on, and produced this one as well. This should help Jason’s career along even further…..it’s another gem!

Well Jody Sanders, since you’ve started playing “Lucky Arms”, you too have had the pleasure of working out some of Tommy D’s lines…..lucky us…..Ha, ha!

It has been a pleasure working with Jason over this past year…..especially some of the real traditional Texas dance halls we’ve played.

And thanks for all of your kind words JC. They are appreciated for sure.

If ya’ll see that Jason is performing in or around your area, stop out and visit. Would love to visit with ya’ll. Russ

Jody(s),
Thought I was doing a pretty good job of staying up with new Tx acts, but haven't heard of Jason. Does he have a website - or where can I find out more about him??

Jody's right, Jason Allen does carry the torch. Jason's last CD featuring "Lucky Arms" proves that fact. I had the good fortune of hearing some demo tracks for Jason's upcoming CD. Y'know what? Jason keeps on getting better and better.

We in the Kevin Fowler Band have had the honor to share the stage with the Jason Allen Band on several occasions. They're all outstanding musicians and and great folks, too! Russ is too humble to say anything but, he's a fabulous picker and does a great job covering Tommy D's wonderful steel licks as well as adding some hot ones of his own. In fact, the last time we shared the stage, I kept looking to see if any of them fell outta his guitar so's I could pick 'em up an' stick 'em in my axe...no luck.

Russ, you da' man! Say howdy to Jason and Wayne and the rest of the boys.

Keep on pickin'!
Glenn

How strange is this?? I just sat down at the computer to try and find tab and lyrics to this very song. Can't find anything on it. Anyone out there got either the lyrics or tab?? We have a rehearsal Thur night and I need to get it right before then.

Thanks

Jason does a great job, but don't leave out his label-mate Jamie Richards! Great songwriter and singer.
