She was definately a family legacy. I don't think i've ever heard her play the autoharp as mentioned in the article.

She was from a legendary family, and was a legend in her own right. She sure helped John back on the right road. They'll be laughing in that heavenly band tonight!!! She had a wonderful sense of humor!

I was watching one of the 50's Gannaway shows tonight to remember June as a pretty young thing... she would usually dosome comedy then an uptempo novelty tune, but on the tape I picked out randomly tonight, she did a ballade after pestering Marty "Bobbins" as she called him...
what a sweetheart.

It's really sad. Johnny is just recovering and June has heart surgery with complications and passes away.

The Carter Family is legendary in country music. Is Helen Carter still living? Anita passed away some years ago.

Does anybody know how Johnny is taking it? My heartfelt condolences go out to him and the rest of the Cash/Carter family.

Ernie

After trying for several days to think of something appropriate to say to Johnny Cash;
all I can come up with is a line from one of his songs:

See you at the candy store....

Regards, Paul

Count me in, as a rouer. She represented
decency, fairness, loyalty, integrity, and
stubbornness.....all the stalwarts of country music......wouldn't you say?

RIP, June.
