Back during the last Gulf War, I was serving with the GA Air National Guard. We were working at Dobbins AF Base in Atlanta. A record heard in a lot a restaurant jukeboxes and on the radio was a Chris Issac's song called: What Wicked Thing To Do.
I was really taken in by the lead guitar work on that song and recall requesting it many times on radio play. They used to do that, you know.
Now there is a guitar instrumental being used on the Weather Channel during the local weather segments and it has traces of the old sound in a song they play over and over again. I was wondering if anyone had any information on who did the original work on the CI song and if he is still out there making this haunting sound ??

And a good one too, Larry !! Not too often you can get an ID sound like he did. BTW: If memory serves me correctly, you are a Ray Charles fan too, aren't you ?? Did you catch the segement he had on CBS Sunday Morning ?? Even had ole Wille on there too.
But I got hit three times on that show this morning. The other one was the Whistling Contest in Louisburg, NC. When I was living there we used to play shows there and I recall one in particular, when it was cold and snowing and the singers took turns going into the office to warm up but the musicians had to stay out and freeze.
And lest we forget, there is a Hog Callin' Contest in NC as well. That place has got everything except WWBP !!
Regards, Paul Jody PS: The third one is in Steel Players: SGR & CBS. |

The tune is actually called "Wicked Game". Sadly, it's the only good thing on the album. Love that guitar. |

Interesting. I did a recording session with a band called The Bluesaholics around Christmas time, and the leader brought in this tune he'd written.... he said he'd been inspired by music he'd heard on the Weather Channel. We teased him about that all day.

This Wilsey guy is hooking up with a Telecaster/pedal steel player named Chris Lawrence in what is described as an "instrumental western rock band" called The Mysteries. Album is forthcoming. |
