I've been seeing ads for a new 'reality' talent show on the USA cable network. I could not bring myself to watch but I wondered if anyone saw it. Was it as bad as it looked like it was going to be?

Hi BD,
Caught the show last night. Wasn't all that bad. Some good singers. Kind of like a take off of American Idol but without the terrible insults like that Simon guy gives when someone is really bad. The judges still tell the people that can't sing about there abilities but not as bad.

It's not the Gong show..but the Judges could turn into the Gong show real easy.
It was not all that bad..The production has humor in it which makes it easier to watch than just seeing folks sing a bad song, or a boring song.
You really only get to see and hear each contestent for a brief time then the judges do their thing..and sometimes it aint 'purdy.
They show just as many folks off pitch as the ones who are "ON" pitch. And there were not many on pitch..They did this in very good taste.
So far , in my view, the folks who are in the finals are no better than many of folks I have seen locally . No one really jumps out as a Top CD Seller.
One thing is for sure, there are a lot of folks who want to be a Country singing Star that should not give up their Burger flipping jobs.
And , not one male/female duet in the bunch...

Brandi Gibson. I know her and her folks. Her Aunt and uncle were our closest friends in Alaska. They now live in Clarksville Tenn. Brandi has been singing since she was knee hi to a little bity bug. She can sing any style song. And a great personality. |
