I heard a segment on NPR this morning about a country music group from Russia called Bering Strait. Very hot pickers and they have a steel player. Any of you guys ever heard of them? |

They were on the televised portion of the Opry a few weeks ago, and mentioned in an Opry thread here... |

Earl, I saw them on the Opry and they are a great group! Russian consevatory students who were turned on to bluegrass in Russia by their professor. Highly talented. [This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 19 February 2003 at 10:50 AM.] |

They were very good on the Opry. They have two female vocalists/rhythm guitars, a male vocalist on banjo and guitar, and a dobro/pedal steel player. They started with a Russian number, then did a couple of contemporary country numbers in English. A very good looking and good sounding group - really kind of amazing. |

Cool, I'll head to walmart & pick this one up. I wonder what they do for steel parts & strings & stuff in Russia. Steel Guitar Moscow? Bobbe Semorski? |

Bering Strait got a very bad review in the Los Angeles Times this week. The reviewer said that they played and sang beautifully, but he didn't like the songs and that ruined the show for him. |
