Yes, a Shania Twain song.

I heard it TWICE (almost in succession) the other day while flipping radio stations, and it reminded me of a couple questions about it.

First, who played the steel on that song?

Second, towards the end, it sounds like the steel is being played with a "binary" volume pedal. It's either on or off. Very strange effect, like the sound is being choked off.

Who do you think came up with that style for that part of the song? The steel player, or Mutt?

And lastly, have you ever heard any other songs with the steel being played in that fashion?

Speaking of "You're Still the One", what was the Canadian group that had a song of that title out in the mid-80s? The Edmonton Oilers used it as their theme song.

David,
That would be Bruce Bouton. I think it was Mutt's idea! He and Bruce are very talented producers & musicians!

Yes, by Orleans, the guitarist was John Hall, who was great, played with Bonnie Raitt at one time I think. Sold the tume to ABC who used it for a few TV seasons promos. Bet that put the kids through college!
