I'm trying to find the lyrics to an old Buck Owens song. It starts, Once I was a slave at a sawmill. Talk about a poor boy, talk about a poor boy. Etc. Etc. I cant find it on Cowpie, because I'm not sure of what the title is. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I thought the title was "Sawmill" but I could be, and a lot of times I am, wrong.

I found the lyrics in the Record Lady's site.
She has em all! And Sawmill is the correct title. If you've never been to her site, you should check it out. Especially if you like the older traditional country.
Just type Record Lady in the Keyword box.

It's on an album called "Buck Owens On The Bandstand". The front cover has a picture of Buck, with Don and Jay MacDonald in the background. It's on the Sundazed label.

Leigh, thanks for that website. The Record Lady has a lot of oldies to listen to. If you haven't been to it yet, I suggest at least looking at it. Again, thanks Leigh.
