Thanks Janice. That sounds like a pretty good show. Ronda Vincent is one of my favorites.

Yes Tommy was on his red MSA behind Aaron and John Conley. Daryl had an interesting
song about 9-11 but nothing sticks to my mind like Alan Jacksons.

Also thanks to the guy who got Rhonda Vincents guys downtown with minetes to spare.

Rhonda & band did a great job! Kenny Ingram is a super banjo artist! Jerry did his usual excellent job on resophonic.

I didn't especially care for Aaron Lines but his performance wasn't offensive. Daryl's 911 song was GREAT, not just interesting! It was good to see Jerry Douglas get a spot tonight and my comment about his fiddle player is "if you closed your eyes, could you still tell that his hair was spiked like a lizard?" The answer is sort of obvious. Rhonda Vincent kicks ass and John Conlee is a fellow Undertaker and a great performer.

Well, at least I know what to do with those 5 hairs left on top of my Head! The guy could play fiddle tho and I do remember when my hair was long and I had sideburns down to my neck. Haha A very good Opry tonight!

I didn't know John Conlee is in that business. Another piece of interesting but useless trivia to file away in my brain.

I liked the show. Recently the director seems to have the camera shots under control. I suspect they now have preproduction meetings so they know what order the instruments will solo in.

It's great that an instrumentalist gets to do a set. Jerry and his band were hot.

Too bad his excellent Fiddler got booed. Goes to show that some folks care more about looks and hair style than the quality of the music. No wonder we have all the "Belly Button" and "Hat Acts". They're just giving the idiots what they want.

Ah Haaaa,as Bob said, "Time Changes Everything". Still, I don't think "MR. ROY" will be comfortable tonight. A little unconventional in "The Mother Church of Country Music"

Again, I have to agree with Bob Knight. The fiddle player should take his scalp back to L.A. where it belongs. It doesn't belong on the Opry. Very poor taste.

Yes, it did leave something to be desired in the "decorum" department, didn't it? He was a great player, but I think he was also there to make some sort of "statement" to the audience.

Now maybe I'm just an old coot, but for me, the Opry was always something special. It was Country Music. It had reverence, character, and a great history of stars who got their start there. I have done just about everything else, and it was always one of my unfulfilled dreams to just play on that hallowed stage.

I'll probably never get to do that, so I guess it's probably good that they're makin' me miss it less and less.

I caught some of the second show , Daryl Worleys " Have you forgotten " I heard him doing it Friday night. And it faded out before I could find out who the Artist was that was singing it. A song that should make one think about what a lot of what(liberals)forget,We didn't fire the first shot. Great song and great Country voice. If you close your eyes you hear a little Kieth Whitley in his voice. I wonder if Pete Fischer pulled the plug to end john Conlees last song.I'll watch it at 11 am.

Darryl's one of my favorite singers. I'm sure he'll record "Have You Forgotten" after the response he received! Who was playing steel?
It was great to see Jerry spotlighted for the first time. Brian and fiddleplayer sounded great! Nice to see musicians having so much fun while playing!

Is there a televised Opry Show that Mr. Roy would have been comfortable with?

Get rid of the drums and electric instruments too. Are TV cameras electric?

Just finished listening to the Jan 11 Opry on WSM archives. Near the end, 5:20 something into the show, Joe Nichols comes on for his second set and finishes it with Farewell Party!! OH WOW! He absolutely smoked it! I have no idea who was playing steel (it's not Tommy), but whoever it was played incredible. Joe made mention of Lil Jimmy, Johnny B., and Gene W. versions. The vocals were tailored after Watson's version. The steel definitely was rooted Jimmy Day's version on the Johnny Bush cut. It's was great!

Respectfully,

I watched the replay this morning in the kitchen with eggs & coffee. Sounded to me like Douglas' fiddle player had his mic turned completely off...anybody else notice that, or was it just me?

I couldn't see him very good but I think Daryl Worley"s steel player was Eddie Gossien. He was playin a beautiful white and BIG ORANGE Fessy. Who ever it was was Great,But I'll say it was Eddie.

Myron, there is good wisdom in what you say. Kenny, that was Eddie. He played a Flueger hollow neck resonator on the first song. They are amazing sounding dobros.

Who cares what the fiddle player looked like. He is a fine player with a wealth of experience at a young age. The GOO is a radio show anyway.....

What a bunch of biggots in here. Seriously, who are you to judge/discriminate against anyone? (If the shoes fits - wear it)

Bunch of BS

Can't wait to see YOU on the Opry....

I 've been there....glad you didn't see me you might think I was too short or had the wrong suit on.....

Speak for yourself Tim and DON'T insult the rest of us with your personal accusations!Bobby, this is what I am talking about.
The above statement violates forum rules. It is abusive, racial, vulgar, and quite possibly libelous. Bobby, if Tim Harr is not removed from the forum I am leaving. I won't have any part of this!
