I just got of the phone with Donny Herron, he will be playing fiddle with III and Kayton Roberts on steel.
This is an all Hank weekend on the Opry and the first time that Hank jr. and HankIII will be on stage together. Jet Williams will play on Friday night. |

I know my eyesite is getting worse as I age, but I did not see Kayton with HWIII. Big disappointment, but HWIII was fairly decent, even without a steel.

I couldn't take any more of HWII. I think HWI is rolling over.
I enjoyed HWIII, and I'm glad he came on early. Where was Keyton Roberts?????????

What a great show! The weakest part of the show was ol' Tater and he was good too!! I liked Hank III's stuff and think he's got a good future in the alternative country scene. My favorite was Hank Jr. as he's had a lot of good tunes that I've played with many bands and always have a great time. Remember "All My Rowdy Friends are Comin' Over Tonight", "A Country Boy Can Survive", "Old Habits", and a host of others especially the one about "If you Don't Like Hank Williams, Jr. you can kiss my @$$" or something like that. I thought Steve Wilkerson did a great job on steel with the whites. I'd like to see more of him. He's also a hot lead guitar player. Vince was a little suspect on his vocal as it seemed to me like he might be having some throat problems or something. He still did a good job though, although I'd have liked to see Steve W. doing some steel on that tune. You got to hand it to ol' Buck White too, the boy can play some hot piano when he wants to. All in all it was a good show and I enjoyed it. Bocephus Rules!!!!! JH

I thought Hank III was outstanding. No pretense or polish. Just this who I am. Real country with soul. I think Little Jimmy is losing it, but he is a blessed individual to still be able to get up there at 82 and do it. I can forgive him. You have to smile. I can't take more than a moment or two of Hank Jr., either - I can't see, or hear, any more than a famous surname! Mike Daley played very well behind him, though.
Great stuff from Steve Wilkerson with the 'Whites'!
It sounded to me like Vince sang that song in too low a key - he doesn't usually slip up like that.
An interesting show with plenty of steel! |

Jerry - I guess that I'll just have to join the ones who "pucker up"! I may be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet that there's quite a few of us...

Steve, That doghouse bass man usually plays with BR-549. That jumpsuit he wears is bellbottomed and has sequeins on the lower part of the legs. I don't recall his name but have seen him play with them before. He usually puts on a good show by himself. |

Hank Williams III was great! The bass man was wearing those coveralls like Shot use to wear.
Also, Steve should have been playing on "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" to me it cried for steel. Oh well...I enjoyed the tribute alot! |

I guess Kayton couldn't be there. I was lookin forward to his playing with HankIII, but Donny did a great job(for just playin' fiddle).I liked HankIII and would love to see more acts go out on the Opry stage with out drums and a dozen guitar amps behind them.
I turned the TV off when Hank Jr. came on stage! |

Did anybody catch the fiddle Hank Jr. thru at the end of his song?
If not, it's now toothpicks.

Someone probably caught the fiddle. That is a running gag Hank jr does. Most times that I have seen him in concert, he throws that fiddle, and a guy goes down on one knee at the end of the stage and catches it. |

As a song in which Bocephus once took part in stated "Leave them boys alone and let 'em sing their song". I still think Hank Jr's cool and really like his music. But then, I've never had my head stuck in the mud and live in the past wishing for the good old days. H-ll, I even liked the thing he did on CMT with Kid Rock. Maybe I've lived too long guess I'll go to my room and commit

With all respect, Jerry, I think its reasonable to express an opinion on here.
I think Hank Jr. is an indifferent singer, his general musicianship is no more than 'adequate', and he's really only 'famous for being famous'. I have the distinct feeling that he developed a 'chip on his shoulder' as a result of being constantly compared to his Dad, and was determined to write and perform his own material, however lacking it might be.
I find all that 'I did it MY way' stuff a bit tiresome and contrived.
He 'inherited' a career - without that bequest, I doubt that we'd have ever heard of him...

I saw a part of the Hank WIlliams III spot.
The kid is an insult to his grandfather.....
My dog could sing better and it died a few years ago !!
It's a damn shame the GOO and Gaylord has come to this sad state of affairs.
