Judy, don't let your sweet love wither and die like the flowers in the fall....
Anyone know this tune, and/or the artist ? I heard it on a local radio station which still plays what they want. It was kinda nice, lotsa steel. It may be a local recording too... they play alot of those.

This wouldn't be the cut you heard--it has Jerry Douglas, no pedal steel--but maybe the
song? "Don't Let Your Sweet Love Die" was cut by Ricky Skaggs on the magnificent
Highways and Heartaches album.
This album, BTW, is a must-have for Lloyd Green fans. There is also very fine work by
Bruce Bouton and Weldon Myrick on there. This is a real tone record, I think.

This is an old Louvin Bros. tune, but I don't recall ever hearing a non-bluegrass version. |

No, different tune. The words seem kind of generic, I know...
This was all about Judy - kind of a call-and-response sort of tune, in
swing-ish style. Hmmmmm...

The song is "Judy", written and originally recorded by Teddy Redell in the late 50's, Elvis recorded it in -60 for his "Something For Everyone"-album. Neither of these versions have steel, it's more like a piano dominated song ( Redell is a piano player ), so you've probably heard some later recording of this song. Great song, btw!!
