While posting the topic about the Buck Owens Show, I thought about him, Is there anyplace I can get some of his recordings? I heard his version of "Keys In The Mailbox" and was knocked out!!! I don't know if it was just my ears or what, but to me he sounded a lot like Mr. Ray Price. Many thanks to anybody who can help. Jason |

Jason, I'm pretty sure none of Tony's stuff is in print. I don't think he's ever done a CD, but his stuff is available on the used record market. Hard to find...but worth it!
(Yes, he sounds more like Ray than Ray does!) |

Jason: I have "Keys in the Mailbox" LP by Tony Booth released by Capitol Records in 1972. Jaydee Mayness is on steel with Don Rich on the fiddle and providing harmony. I'll be glad to tape the song or the entire LP for you if you'd like. Just send me your address. |

I believe there are limited CD pressings of some of Tony's old material available at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Fort Worth. Looks like Tony burned a small number of his own CD's from the vinyl. Don't know about the sound quality. Jerry Brightman is on a lot of this stuff and plays quite well, as does Jay Dee Maness. You'll have to look up the number of the ET Record Shop yourself, though... I'm too lazy.

I've got one of his LP's that I'd love to find on a CD. It's titled, "When A Man Loves a Woman (The Way That I Love You)". I belive it's in Jay Dee's vintage as far as steel goes; killer steel on every single cut. Other tunes include: Cinderella, Sweethearts in Heaven, Colors I'm Gonna Paint the Town, You'll Never Miss the Water (Til the well runs dry)...

PS: For fantastic vocals you have to hear him sing, "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall (who's the saddest of them all)"... or perhaps it's called "It's Got To Be Me".
