OK, wanna hear some stuff I'd call REAL traditional country?
Go here:

Download
"Things Ain't Like They Used To Be"
"Damn'd Ol' Guitar"
"Nowhere Lounge"
"Magnolia"
You'll have to sign up with mp3.com to do this, though. But it's painless, and free.
That's a songwriter that lives here in the Houston area. Now THAT'S country!
If you ever make it down to this area for a Wednesday night, be sure to head to Pufabelly's Restaurant in Old Town Spring to catch him (and whoever the guest songwriter of the night is) live.
He's got CD's, too:

Probably won't, either, unless you come to Conroe, TX. Even then, I think only one or two of his songs have received airplay (that I've heard) on the local station here.
Davin's certainly good enough (and country enough) that if Nashville wanted that sound, they could make him a "star" overnight.
I overheard him talking to somebody a few weeks ago (at his weekly Texas Songwriters' night in Spring, TX) that George Strait has apparently heard one of his songs, and likes it. So, just maybe, one of his songs will at least get put on a major album.

David,
I'm sorry I said that.
If it's heard anywhere it's real. Theresa |
