The first country song which really got my attention was on the radio in 1968 (or so) It had the chorus: "Hurtin', no one can help me. Hurtin', no one can help me"
One of the verses was: "Tired of eatin' day old bread, sleepin' in a dusty shack..."
Maybe it was Mike Nesmith?
Hearing this led me to discover country music. Thanks--I hope someone knows it.
