And who said the Lord isn't watching..Saturday I went to the SC guitar show, I brought my Nashville 400,( on a small hand truck of course) to sell. I had just sold my Strat and bought a new N1000 and was looking for a 52 RI Tele. Well there basically wasn't a Tele in the house under several thousand $$. No 52 RI's to be seen. I was approached by an older gentleman about the Nashville 400, Turns out he was a pastor who plays steel. He wanted to buy the amp but he needed me to bring it to his church and set it up for him.
He recently had some heart trouble and couldn't lift anything especially this N400 bad boy. I agreed to do this for him as I didn't think I was going to miss anything at the show with no tele's in sight. I took the amp to his church only to find he had a Sho-Bud Pro 1 set up in his office . I set up the amp and it sounded awesome with his old Sho-Bud. He was amazed at the tone. We both agreed that the steel and the amp were a great combo to do the Lords work. He was very greatful that I did this for him. I went back to the show , made one more sweep around, still no 52 RI Tele's. So my friend and I decided to leave . As we were leaving this guy walks in, almost right up to me, holding a 52 RI Tele for sale. My eye's were popping out ! I was thinking everyone in the place was looking for this guitar,
( probably many were) but this guy walks right up to me. I looked it over and we made a very good cash deal and I came home with the Tele. It's in excellent all original shape with a few small body dings here and there which I actually prefer over getting a brand new one without a blemesh. He thought it was an 82 or 83 but it is an '89 after taking it apart for cleaning and inspection last night. I am convinced that yesterdays order of events were meant to be and had to have been planned from above.

added note: This Tele, after cleaning, new strings and quick set-up, may qualify as the best Tele I have ever owned and I must say that I have owned many over the past 35 years. The tone and playability of this Tele is exceptional

Fender Vintage Series guitars were first issued in `82 ,I think, with serial #s beginning with "V" .When CBS sold the company and the production of the vintage line resumed in the late 80`s the V serial numbers started from 00001 again. So, it is understandable to think that a guitar, according to the serial number, is for example an `83 while it could also be from the post-CBS series.

I had to add this for all you Tele players. As you know, finding a Tele that is "right" is like finding a Steel that is "right". This Tele is "Right" and I am as excited about playing this guitar as I am on the steel. Great fat frets with U shaped neck, and yes this is an original Fender neck, hard to find like this. All date stamps match for this guitar. Here it is, it may just look like another Tele but you Tele dudes know what I am talking about here.

I had one of those. I sold it at the guitar show that was going on at/during the convention in St. Louis a few years back.
Couldn't keep two Gatton Tele's AND a 52 re-issue, too. It was gathering dust and deserved a good home.
Great guitar...

Tony,

Congrats! It's a beautiful axe. Looks like there's plenty of playing time left in this baby. Make it sing, dude!

Tony,

From one Tele player to another, that's a dandy axe!
