Mike sure is a great player. He appears to be doing very well. I do get to see him from time to time here in Nashville (he is even kind enough to let me sub for him now and then).
He sure seems to be getting a good share of studio work, and just working live when he wants to. I'm not too sure that you will find a nicer guy anywhere, but he'll just plain kick your a$$ on that steel, if you aren't careful... :-)

I had the pleasure to meet Mike about 2years ago in Nashville. He has been doing some session stuff for the Broken Bow label. I heard him with a singer by the name of Damon Grey. Also he has been working with a couple other artists on the label. Mike is an all around nice guy. I didn't know until that night that I met him, that he worked with Mel Street. Damon did Borrowed Angel and Mike kicked it off just like Lloyd did. Damon told later that Mike had worked for Mel.

I think Mike played on at least one of Aaron Tippin's albums. Funny thing is that I have an audio clip of Aaron when he appeared on the "You Can Be A Star" talent contest. Mike played some awesome licks as usual.
As well as David plays, it is not surprising that he gets to sub for Mike. I think David has found a way to beat the system in Nashville--have a good day job to support your family while you are breaking into session work.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Mike a couple of times and he is a very down-to-earth guy for being such a monster player.
