Hi all,
I've been reading the forum for a while and there's been lots of great information. Especially stuff on Joaquin Murphy.

I have two questions.

First, on a two (or more) neck instrument, which is the front and which is the back? Inside and outside make sense to me, but front and back...

Second, why are steel guitar tunings so often given high to low. In twenty years of playing stanard guitar low to high is all I've ever seen. I'm getting used to it, but it's still confusing.

Hi Fred. Front is closest to the audience. Back is closest to the player.

I have seen low to high, high to low, and sideways every which way.
For this reason I always clearly state exactly how I am listing a tuning when I do so. Or a tab. You can't take it for granted that anyone else is on the same page as you when it comes to nomenclature and symbols.
I don't know if there is a right or wrong about this but I do know that you're never get everyone working from the same standard. So you've always got to provide a key to reading your chart.
