During my lifetime I've read and studied a number of books about country music. I'm currently in the midst of reading Ralph Emery's latest book "50 Years Down a Country Road". Never personally been a big fan of "Raff", but this is a GREAT book. Not a dull page in it so far. For those of you who are "up" on the history of country music from the late 1940's through 2000, you may be in for a little surprise because there is a bit of never-before-revealed information in this book. Ralph relied on the help of a lot of knowledgeable "insiders" to help compile the research for this 398-page work, including well-known steelers Billy Robinson and Don Helms. Lots of great anecdotes also and this book de-bunks a number of myths that have been floating around the business for years. I highly recommend this book. It approaches the level of "required reading" for all serious country music fans, record collectors, musicians, songwriters, performing artists, etc., IMHO.

For those interested, this book is published by William Morrow/HarperCollins Publishers Inc., 10 East 53rd Street, New York NY 10022. Copies should be available from E.T. Record Shop or one of the booksellers on the Net.

Geee, I never knew who the heck he was living in California until the Nashville Network hit the air, and THAT was the reason I got cable----to watch Ralph and Nashville Now. That was the greatest show, live every night and I really miss it and Ralph.
I will certainly get his book, the man DOES have stories to tell!!! S.
