There's a relatively new rock song in which the most used word is the word "yellow". (so I think that's the title)
I hear it on a PA system, so I can't hear enough of the words to figure out what the song's about, or how the color yellow is being used. It's got me curious (yellow).
Anybody have a clue? Or maybe a pointer to the lyrics? Or maybe what the group/album is?
Around here we learned not to eat the yellow snow, but I don't think it's about that.
Thanks in advance for any clues, Bob |

Bob,
How about "Mellow Yellow" by Donovan Lietch? Still a very popular tune on the beach scene. The way I understood the lyrics, it's about smoking banana peels as a consciousness-altering drug, e.g. "E-lec-tree-cal baNAHna, bound to be the latest craze...E-lec-tree-cal baNAHna, bound to be the very next phase... They call me Mellow Yellow (quite right, Slick)" etc. Yeah, they don't write old-fashioned love songs like they used to.

Hi Bob, yes, the name of that song is indeed "Yellow" and the band is called Coldplay. Here's a link to the lyrics: http://www.geocities.com/arcadiae/music/yellow.html
from a fansite.

That's it P.G. Couldn't have asked for a better answer, complete with lyrics. Thanks for nailing it & Mucho Gracias. Now that I've read the lyrics, I want to hear it again and listen more closely.
"Yellow Trouble" has always been one of my favorites, being both fascinated and troubled by the fairer sex . Desert Rose w/J D Maness nailed that one. Cool answers; Yellow Walls begs for a parody set of lyrics. Clever D.H.
Yeh, I'd heard Submarine, Mellow & Ribbon & was familiar with those, but thanks for the suggestions.
Thanks, Bob

There was talk in Congress at that time about what to do about passing a law to prohibit smoking banana peels and about how United Fruit would respond to the possibility of outlawing bananas and of course it was all a goof to get the hysterics riled up. |
