I knew a Jimmy Powers who fit your description. He was in the house band at the Western Club in Gulfport, Illinois for several years. He was a super bass guitar player & had one of the best voices you'll ever hear. I knew him for several years before I even knew that he played steel guitar. One night when I went to the Western Club, he was playing steel & someone else was on bass. His steel playing was fabulous.

He left this area close to 20 years ago. If anyone around here would have kept in touch with him, it would be Danny Hull of Burlington, Iowa. Danny was a regular house band member at the Western Club for many years & I know that he has kept in touch with many of the musicians who have left this area.

I'll try to get in touch with Danny & see if he knows anything about Jimmy's present location.
