I came across a blues station and heard Willie's version of Uncle Bob's Sittin' On Top Of The World. Heard it was off his new CD. It was really BLUSEY.
Has anyone else heard it, or the whole CD?

How weird, that's the song I heard toady too, I think it was on a local radio show called 'Acid Country' where the DJ tends to have a Texas bias (never seems to play any Western Swing though!).
I thought it was a great version. As to the rest of the CD, well I can't really say.

Bless your heart Dayna...you are too modest to mention that you have one of the finest western-swing CD's out today. For those who appreciate a perfect mix of western-swing, blues, and jazz, buy a copy of Dayna Wills INSIDE OUT(Bob's Sister Helen's Kid: Vol III)with Musicians:Mark Abbott(bass),Billy Briggs(tenor sax),Randy Elmore(fiddle),Benny Garcia(guitar),Curly Hollingsworth(piano),Tom Morrell(steel),and Tommy Perkins (drums). I'm sure Dayna wouldn't mind anyone e-mailing her at daynawills@aol.com
to find out where it's available. (I hope you don't mind me doing this Dayna)

Rolling Stone gave this album a great review. I plan to pick it up soon.

I watched Willie on Austin City Limits this weekend with his band + Johnny Gimble on fiddle, and Leon Russell doing a couple of tunes. The first part was magic, with he and Gimble doing some great stuff.
The second half was Willie doing a set of the old greatest hits with his band. Willie was doing his "Singing ahead of the beat" thing that drives me crazy. As Waylon said "Most people call it #@$%ing up". Still you got to love the man, and his band.

Gene,
Of course I don't mind. Thank you for the kind words. The CD is available here on the Forum. Also, next year I may be offering the first two volumes on CD for Forum members who are interested. I'll keep b0b posted about that.
