Been looking for the movie sound track to 'EASY RIDER" for years now and just about gave up. Today I found this used record collectors store in Plantation, Florida and sitting right in a record album box was the 33-1/3 vinyl record album to the movie sound track, "EASY RIDER." The price was $2.00 and it's still in very good condition, sounded like new. There's only one song that I was looking for and that was, "Don't Bogart That Joint My Friend" with lots of PEDAL STEEL GUITAR on it. ( who did play steel on that song????)

I remember that song, "Don't Bogart that Joint." So, Red Rhodes played steel on that one. Who is the band, or was Red the band?
For some reason, that song always reminded me of "Down to Seeds and Stems Again" by Commander Cody -- perhaps because of the subject matter. |

It was Fraternity Of Man who had a couple of cool albums in the late 1960s.
Lowell George of Little Feet and Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention was the group's lead man for a while, I don't think he was an original member though.
This is off the top of my head, so forgive me if I'm off with the facts. |

There is a fabulous a capella version of that on Little Feat's "Waiting for Columbus" live album, that segues into "Willin'"

Speaking of Little Feat, check out the Lowell George tribute album "Rock and Roll Doctor"!
Bonnie Raitt with the current Feat doing "Cold,Cold,Cold" alone is worth the price.Add Taj Mahal`s "Feets Don`t Fail Me Now",Randy Newman doing "Sailing Shoes" and two cuts with killer lapsteel by David Lindley and you have sounds for sore ears.Chris Hillman and Jennifer Warnes duet on "Straight From The Heart" features J.D.Maness on PSG.

Yeah, Dixie Chicken is the smoothest bit of country-soul funk ever. Little Feet, Delaney & Bonnie and The Allman Brothers all get me groovin' |

Hey Jason,
The jukebox at the old Swizzle Stik in Huntington Beach had that song on the jukebox when I was there. The artist was listed as The Fraternity of Man 10-4.

Jerry, youmust have lived at that club, how many bands did you work with there?
I do have a soft spot for their first album, it has Ry Cooder and Sneaky Pete guesting, some good early ideas and a kind of amateur charm when compared to later recordings.
