Sorry for the spam, but I thought some of y'all might be interested in this.
If you want more information about the Americana Music Association, visit
http://www.americanamusic.org/
Gavin has dropped the Americana Music Charts. But that doesn't mean Americana
is dead. Far from it. There is now an Americana Music Association. A lot like
the Country Music Association but with more beer and less music that sucks.
The Americana format has included Bluegrass, Classic Country, F*lk (i can't
even spell that word, much less say it out loud,) as well as a lot of twang
type music that will never be heard on your local Hot New Young Country
station.
The purpose of the association is to promote this music. I joined. I actually
paid money to become a voting member. They screwed up when they let me do
that. I am encouraging you to check out their website at
http://www.americanamusic.org/ and see if it's something you could get
interested in and help support as well.
The first ever convention (not counting drunken gatherings at Twangfest, South
by Southwest, or Merlefest) of the Americana Music Association will be held in
just a couple of weeks. Here's your chance to be a part of.
