The guy's name is Peter Dawson. He has no record deal. The song? "Willie Nelson for President".
The chorus:
If I could I'd vote for Willie
to run the government.
'Good Morning America, how are you?'
he'd say with his pigtails and a grin.
He'd unite the whole nation
with his guitar and a song.
The only thing that makes perfect sense:
'Willie Nelson for President'.
Listen for it. He came up with the idea for the song after seeing a 'Willie for President' T-shirt at a Willie concert. He went back to his dorm room (he's at Belmont in Nashville) and wrote the song. He talked a friend into borrowing the studio, and recorded it, making only 10 CD's. He sent those CD's to Dallas, Houston, and Austin areas (he's from the Dallas area). It was a huge hit. They've made more CD's, and sent them across the US. This could be what gets him a record deal.
PS: He came from Johnny High's Country Music Revue in Arlington, TX -- that's where Reece Anderson has been playing steel guitar for the past 25 years.

David, I agree 110%. Peter's the real deal. He's a kid from my neighborhood here in Dallas. I first heard him about five years ago when he sang in a high school talent show. His self-made CD was recorded in Nashville and features Bruce Bouton on PSG. Keep on eye out for this guy. BTW, he's the younger brother of Phil Dawson, the kicker for the Cleveland Browns. |
