What ever happened to Kathie Ballie? She had one of the best pure country voices i've ever heard. Why didn't she get a solo deal? She could have racked up a few Best Female Vocalist trophies, IMO.

Jeanie Kendall, another one. Did she ever go solo?

The Kendalls last No. 1 hit, I believe, was "Thank God for the Radio", in 1984, or '85. Jeannie and her father Royce, leaned towards the older "Classic Country and Honky-Tonk" styles, and began to lose popularity even before Royce died. As good as their stuff was, it just wouldn't sell to the teenage crowd (who buy the majority of recordings) that Nashville began to focus on in the '80s.

I bought that 45 and it was defective - it sounds scratchy when you play it. There was none to exchange, so i kept it. I really like that recording. It was produced by Blake Mevis. Sounds a lot like Amarillo By Morning. You could say Mevis was a modern Billy Sherill. I know most steelers don't care for that style.

I think Billy Sherrill was a freakin genius. The way he mixed steel and fiddle with strings and voices in the background was great.
