I should receive a JB Frypan in the next few days and was wondering whats a good string size for a c6th or similar tuning.

It's an 8 string model.

Also what tuning would Jerry Byrd use on an 8 string?

Thanks in advance for any help or tips.

Jerry uses c6+7 basic tuning. For different tunings "on the fly" he only retunes 2 to 3 strings to get e9 b11 e 13 c#m d9.

Thanks CC. I could practice till the year 3,000 and not get as clean of sound as Jerry Byrd but sure will be fun trying!

Don't feel so bad about that. Buddy Charleton told me himself that "There never was and never will be another left hand like Jerry Byrd's!"
