Robby, THAT'S the song they should've used during the awards show segment memorializing him. The lilting, cheery "It Ain't Nothin'" was an unwelcome taste of saccharine-coated inappropriateness (imposed by Hollywood, no doubt.)

"I Never Go Around Mirrors" was his theme song. It is said he could be found stumbling around at bluegrass festivals drunk at dawn singing that song.

The story of his seeking Lefty Frizzell's approval for the new second verse--by singing it over his grave--is...well, that IS Country, isn't it? Can you imagine one of the one-name-wonders having the heart to do that? How many of the pop interlopers even know who Lefty Frizzell is?

We can only imagine the great body of work that Keith would have created by now! Sure could use "some of that" in todays market!

Robbie,
I agree Keith had the voice to touch our hearts. He was influenced by Lefty & Merle, but still brought his own style to a song. He may never get the recognition he so deserves, but I think the new breed knows him well. If you are listening to radio you hear Keith has made an impact in today's country. Yes, he's greatly missed! Theresa

The greatest Whitley song for this Forum is one called "Bring Back Buck" on the "I Wonder Where You Are Tonight" Album. It has the hook of the instrumental "Buckaroo" and some great words. Honor the man and buy it: Keith wrote it.Pete.

It wnt off line last night but Dick Shuey
had a Dwight Whitley cut on his July programing.
He also had a number from Lefty Frizzel's
son andfrom 1980 Joe Sun's Bombed Bused and Busted.
