Lee Ann has a new CD called "I Hope You Dance" out now. I really like her music (great studio band, too). www.AllMusic.com rated her first two CDs at 3 and 2-1/2 stars, I think, but gave this new one 4-1/2 stars, so if it's even better than her first two efforts, this CD should be really good.
Any Forumite reviews to be had here? Thanks.

I personally love Lee Ann, and for my daughter of 16 to ask for the cd yesterday was nice to hear! Go Lee Ann, this is a good role model for teens. Theresa |

Wait, isn't this the girl that does that "I really hate her" song? |

erik,
The song title is, "I'll Think Of A Reason Later". That's as country as it gets!
I'm proud Megan would want her as a role model!

"I'll Think of a Reason Later" is soooooo tongue-in-cheek, it's nearly a perfect country song. Very human. Lee Ann did take a bit of a stroll on the, um, wild side with "I'd Rather Have What We Had" ('bout wishin' for the ol' cheatin' days), but by and large her music is on the up and up, very well sung, very well produced, with top session players behind her. Just so doggone good! I wish the other Leann (Rimes) had taken the same neo-traditional country track Lee Ann Womack has.

Bill, Theresa, erik, etc.
I talked to Rusty Danmyer the other night. He is Lee Ann's steel player on the road (the band's name is 911). He has the highest praise for Lee Ann, her singing and her accomplishments and says she is so great to work for. He has been with her for 4 years now.
Theresa, your brother, Paul Franklin, did all of the steel and Dobro session work on the CD, except for the last song. Rusty did the Dobro session on that song, which is a remake of the Don Williams classic "Lord I Hope This Day Is Good".
Lee Ann is going to be the featured artist on CMT Showcase for June 2000. They are going to focus on her new CD and go into depth about her strong dedication to country music. Her career has been going extremely well, but I think her career is just about to take off like a rocket. George Strait Tour twice now! That says it all.
Lee Ann is tentatively scheduled to be on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" next Tuesday, June 6th. I am very happy for her. The CD is absolutely first class and she is too.

Bob,
Thanks for the info. Is CMT on regular broadcast TV, or just on cable (I don't have cable)? I'll watch for the Leno program.
The single "I Hope You Dance" is moving up the charts fast. I just heard it for the first time briefly yesterday and got a close listen today.... it's a great song. I understand that high school grads have been using it at commencement ceremonies and such. I can see why -- lots of forward-looking hope and encouragement in it. Good, healthy, upbeat, heart-to-heart music. That's why I'd SO much rather have my daughter, once she gets to 16, listen to Lee Ann rather than to Madonna.

Is the new CD moving in a pop direction like so many other artists that start down the tradional path? My impression of seeing the video -- only once-- was that the tune you mentioned was a little pop for my taste.
If that's the case, my teenage daughter will go for it while I will likely prefer the "Some Things I Know" album. That is a great country album. I can't think of a tune on there I don't like a whole bunch.

Probably just what a hopeless, uninspired, no-talent musician like me needs.
I'll check it out... In the meantime give us your review of the whole CD when you can.

Ron,
I bought it, love it! It's a mix, she sings everything with feeling and to me that makes a country singer! You won't be disappointed! It really touched my heart,it's country, bluegrass and pop mixed! Go girl!

I just read notes where the album is Nr 1 on Billboard. The single I Hope you Dance is nr 8 on Billboard and 6 on Radio and records.
I do plan to get this album but i just got some other music I need to digest first.
