Checked my E mail today and found that I had a reply from the Hank Garland family. It came From jazbilly@bellsouth.net. They live in Orange Park, FL.

Is Hank Garland still alive? Doing what?
I flew down to visit Jerry Byrd back in the '60's, I believe it was. Garland was in a divorce situation and while enroute to visit his estranged wife, was involved in a very serious accident that left him permanently injured. I've never heard much about him since then. I have some tapes of his fabulous picking from the early Opry days over WSM. What a joy to hear.

I'm still trying to figure out "Seventh and Union" on the six-string five years after I first heard it! What picking!
