What's going on ? AJ has a terrific new CD that we were all elated about and what do we get on the radio - "Pop-a-Top" and nothing else. At least that's the way it is in this part of the country. I don't think I've heard another cut off this fabulous album. I suppose it could be that they haven't released any of the other cuts as a single but I suspect something more sinister.
The same thing with LeAnn Rymes new CD - it's great with many old standards BUT what do we hear from the album - BIG DEAL.
I can only conclude they're too country for todays teenie bopper audience who dictate the NCS we have to listen to on todays "country radio". |

| Dave, we have been playing the fire out of that cd...the best cut, though is Blues Man, but, it is over 7 minutes long...too long for commercial radio...that didn't stop me, I put it on during the three o'clock hour yesterday. Farewell Party is also really choice. Pat |

| I was impressed on reading the liner notes. Alan paid tribute to the musicians, mentioning Lloyd Green's original solo on Farewell Party as one of the greatest. He also said that Once You've Had the Best has one of his favorite steel intros. The guy sings it well 'cause he loves it. |

Dave,
Alan's new single is called Blues Man and it's been getting alot of air play here in Nashville. Hope it does well for him, he sure can sing!

I also would have thought Blues Man too long for radio, but bravo!
Based on what we've seen from that great CD so far, I would be shocked beyond belief if Farwell Party is not promoted as a single.
Time to stick that one back in the car.

| I was just telling a friend about listening to "Blues Man" six times in a row and getting a lump in my throat when they, (Paul & Brent I guess) take their rides on that outro. The best I've heard in a long time. |

For some reason I pictured that cd as having the title song "Under the influence of love" by Buck and songs of that type, you know, straight shuffle classics. It was a requested birthday gift and I'm very happy to have it, but I wish he would put out a shuffle album. The best song is Blues Man and I think it's better than the
Bocephus version. I do, and I do like Hank Jr. |

On the latest Billboard singles chart, (5/13/00) "Blues Man", after 13 weeks, is down to 66, from its peak position of 37.
However, his latest single, "It Must Be Love" (the old Don Williams hit, written by BOB McDILL) has reached 39 after only 3 weeks on the chart.
