I am happy to announce the imminent release of a new CD featuring 9 of the great unknown resophonic guitar players of the Pacific Northwest. This recording encompasses many of the most popular styles of lap style playing on resonator guitars. The players all hail from Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia.
There are 18 cuts featuring the individual players, including one group tune on which everyone gets a ride or two.
You can hear many types of resophonic guitars, including instruments made by RQ Jones, Tim Scheerhorn, Ivan Guernsey, Dick De Neve, Dobro (R), and National(R).
Bluegrass, Blues, Hawaiian, Old-timey, contemporary--there's a little bit of everything on this 70 minute disk.
There are extensive liner notes and bio's on all the players, including:Orville Johnson, Doug Cox, Mike Lundstrom, Chuck Togstad, Michael Dunn, Fairley Sparks, Sue Murphy, Marty LePore, and yours truly.
The CD will be out on or about June 19, 2000.
There's a web page with more information at www.oakoustic.com/Resonon.htm

I'll get some MP3's from the disk posted up there directly.

Great news Tab.

Looking forward to hearing the album. Sounds like it will fill a void. To me, one of the disappointments of the "Great Dobro Sessions" album was the bluegrass setting for every cut--even if the tune wasn't bluegrass.

The resonator guitar is a very versitile instrument.
