Al,
Wow, I just checked the website via the link I posted above and that's what it said.
I only paid 13.99 (still a lot for a CD, I admit). I know that for a fact because CDNOW keeps your order history online and I checked it. Maybe after they obtained the backordered copy for me, they changed the price. Bummer!

I found the same album with the same songs under the title "Nashville Country Duets" for $11.49...I just used the search function on the web-site for "Carl Jackson" and there it was!
On another note, I remember hearing "Gone,Gone,Gone" quite a bit on WSM-AM back in 1984-85. I was a big fan of Ricky Skaggs (still am!) and recognized Ray Flacke's lead guitar sound. It was interesting to me that a couple of years later, Carl's former employer Glen Campbell cut "Gone,Gone,Gone" with a similar shuffle beat. The only thing that bothered me was he changed the last line of the chorus from 'train' to 'plane'!
Keep pickin'!

Gone Gone Gone is an old song and goes way way back before Ricky Skaggs. I don't remember who originally cut it. |

If it's the same Gone Gone Gone I'm thinking of, I'm pretty sure Lefty recordedit way back when. Did he write it? |

"Gone,Gone,Gone" is the old Lefty Frizzell classic. Sorry if I left the impression I thought otherwise! I meant that Ray Flacke (formerly of Ricky Skaggs band) played the intro on Carl Jackson's cover version. According to the All Music Guide, "Gone, Gone, Gone" was written the one and only Harlan Howard. Now THAT'S country!
keep pickin'!

I stumbled across a CD that I think is a real treasure. Maybe everybody knew about this but me. ).
It's actually quite old, recorded in the early 80's but I don't think it was released until 1995. It's a bunch of demo tunes recorded by Carl Jackson when he was trying to get a record deal in Nashville.
These songs are of pretty incredible quality for demos and include as backup pickers, Bruce Bouton, who is simply outstanding, Ray Flacke, Ricky Skaggs, Stuart Duncan, and Jerry Douglas. Backup singers include Emmylou Harris, Sharon and Sheryl White, Ricky Skaggs, and Melba Montgomery. The album is called "Nashville Country" and is a UK import. It took a few weeks to get but was worth the wait.
The track list is:
01. Gone Gone Gone
02. To Keep Your Memory Green
03. Under Your Spell Again
04. Walk Through The World Wi
05. All That's Left For Me
06. Something Draws Me To You
07. When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again
08. You Made A Memory Of Me
09. I Take The Chance
10. Before I Met You
11. We Must Have Been Out Of
12. Dyin' On Sorrow's Wine
13. Best We Could Do
14. Nobody's Darlin' But Mine
