Who cares if it's pop country when it has steel like that...

and right out front where it should be.

I really like that tune too. The rythem section is fantastic. They are rock solid but sound like they are just about to careen out of control. That is one great sounding steel. Anybody know what Milo used on that track ?

Guys,

They just happened to play this one on the radio this morning while I was shaving… I shut the fan off and gave it a listen.

As Mike mentioned, it’s not my style—too pop. But also, the steel wasn’t really what I’d call “out front”. Don’t get me wrong. It was good steel, but I think “out front” is overstating it a little.

Anyway, if you hadn’t mentioned the song I’d have left the fan on. So thanks!

Sorry Ron... I've only heard the song once and it was the steel that caught my immediate attention.... most likely the reason I thought it was right out front.

later... Mike

Mike and Bob,

After re-reading my post, I may have made you guys feel like, "Hey, who died and left Ron in charge?"

Sorry, that wasn't my intention at all. Obviously, we all hear music differently. My main point was the last one... that my attention was drawn to the tune because you guys shared your thoughts on it. Thanks again.

I don't like that song because it makes Leann sound like every other singer on the radio. She has such a great, unique voice, but somehow it doesn't shine on that cut (to my ears, anyway).

I honestly didn't even notice the steel. I'll listen for it next time.

They are playing this tune at AMC theaters right now. They have a half hour music program that repeats all day long. I heard it the other night when I went to a movie. The steel was way out front there! I have noticed strange things occurring in the surround sound mixdown of other songs I am familiar with. This was a good thing!

Congrats to the good people at Carter ! That is a fantastic recorded tone.

Anybody that doesn't think that the the steel is up front on that track is nuts ! Its the loudest thing in its tonal range and the playing is almost constant.
