I have an opportunity to buy a double-8 National. Sort of art-deco looking, not in great shape. I'd say a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. Buttons on tuners crumbling, some corrosion (not too bad), some finish wear. It's been played but it sounds great. Anyone know what a reasonable price would be? Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Hi John

I have one like the one you describe. According to the serial # mine is a 1948 and it sounds like yours may be around the same vintage. Mine sounds great too but is probably in a little better condition (not much though). I got it 2 years ago for $300 and I thought that was a fair price.

Thanks for the help, Steve. You too, Andy. Looks like I'll have to do a little dickering to get this to the right price.
