This is probably the nicest Bakelite I have or will ever own. This 7 string Bakelite is exactly like Jerry Byrd's 7 string Bakelite pictured on his HI FI Guitar Album cover which he played for years. 1 1/2" wide pickup has "Pat Pend" on one tab and patent number on the other. It is probably a very early 1938 model.

History: I bought it from the family of the original owner where it sat in storage since 1940. There are lesson sheets in the case written on the back of the original owner's payroll timesheets dated 12/15/1938. It was played for a year or two and then put away in storage until 2006.

Condition: The guitar is not in mint condition but it is easily a 9 out of 10. The only flaws are a few scratches on the long chrome plate on the treble side. All the chrome is nice and shiney. The pickup is 100% original and reads a healthy 2K ohms. It is by far louder than any other elctric guitar I own and needs no work. The pots are original and work well. In fact every solder joint is original. The original tuners are in good shape and hold well. Bakelite body and neck are in excellent condition with no cracks or chips anywhere on the guitar. The case is functional but in poor condition and will need a little work. One latch does not work and the right side needs to be reglued. The black covering is in OK shape.

I will try listing this on the Forum before going to Ebay with it. I would like $1500.00 plus shipping. Look at the pictures and email me with any questions. No trades unless you have a longscale Rickenbacher Frypan!
