After you have got used to the delays (5 to 7) days to get money transferred to your own bank accounts it really is a very good service I think. It is very secure, only YOU can access your account, and there telephone help is excellent. For weeks, I could not transfer any money out to my account..Only to discover I had since changed my email address when going on to broadband and this was the reason why....Just hold enough funds in there to pay for things and use it as a way of saving all that lovely ebay profit! My views of course..Dave

PayPal is great at the end of the year during tax time. I have detailed records of nearly every purchase I've made for the year - including business expenses.

It shows all the fees that go with each purchase, which I use as a business expense. It shows all of the purchases I've made on eBay, most of which I use as business expenses. When using my PayPal card as a credit card, I have chargeback options if the need should ever arise.

When my balance gets around $2000, I move money into my checking account for bill paying.

I just can't find much wrong with using PayPal. If you follow the rules, PayPal is a great help.

I use my PayPal debit card to pay for postage at the Post Office, and get up to $50 cash back from my account. No fee. Since I mail stuff every day, this is very convenient for me.

The transfers from my PayPal account to my bank usually go through within two days.

I use it for nearly all my music purchases. I can easily keep seperate funds that way, and not mix with household $$.

Also, as an active eBay seller it allows me to take credit cards for a resonable fee without having to open a business account and all the other credit card hassle.

I'm really amazed at the number of forum members that *don't* take Paypal. It's the standard form of payment in the six-string world. A lot of folks have lost sales by not using it.

On the transfers to a linked bank account they claim 4 days and have held to that consistently---they seem to count weekends too!

All in all I've got to say it's a great system for fast, secure payment or receiving funds. Having sold a few things over seas there are no conversion fees for different currencies; normal fees only in those transactions.

I do notice most who have had "problems" with Paypal seem to be self-induced---the guidelines weren't followed. Most of what you need to know is posted or can be found with a few minutes effort.

For those who cannot accept credit card payments this is one of the best ways to make a sale or pay for something---all around a great system, IMHO!!

Take a look at http://www.paypalsucks.com/

I don't believe that most of us would have a problem with PayPal, but there are some who have had to wait for their money for six months and there's no real mechanism set up to appeal a decision by PayPal's management.

This is still a very young industry, and there are still some problems to be dealt with.

I've never had one take longer than 3 working days - usually two.

"Money held 6 months" always seems to be due to "pilot error" of some type when you dig out the facts.
