Are capos used a lot when playing Dobro in bluegrass/country styles? From my limited exposure to this style of music it seems like the licks lend themselves to a capo (unless everything is played in G!).
What's a good capo to use?
I've been listening to the "Notting Hillbillies" album and there's some really nice Dobro in there that's inspiring me (not to mention some nice Paul Franklin pedal steel). Anyone know who the Dobro player is on that record?

The Dobro you hear on The Notting Hillbillies album is Paul Franklin on the PedaBro.I use the Leno capo on my Dobro,it works well.Check The Resophonic Outfitters website for info on that and other capos.

I don't believe the Leno is made any more. I'm a big fan of the Beard Capo (Resophonic Outfitters).
None the less there are choices and options. RO has them all. (301-733-8271)

WRT to the Notting Hillbillies, I've just been sitting down with that album, trying to cop those steel-guitar like licks and thought to myself, that couldn't be a Dobro, must be Paul on PedaBro, the moves seem impossible on a Dobro. Thanks Olli for confirming this, I feel much better now! |

On the rare occasions that I use a capo, I really like the Shubb resophonic capo www.shubb.com . It's the only capo (besides the Bill Russell elastic-bar thingie, which I haven't seen for years) that actually connects the strings to the neck.
Usually I need all those notes.
