For Sale: Rickenbacker Model SW, which I believe is quite rare, as it is the only one I've seen. This is an 8-string, wood bodied Ric, with an 1 1/4" horseshoe magnet pickup. Has Kluson tuners, strings through the body, and volume and tone knobs. Scale length is 22 1/2", with 3/8" string spacing. Made from 1956-1962, but I believe this guitar is ca. 1957. If you look at the Rickenbacker website catalog archives, the 1957 catalog depicts the exact version of my SW, and includes a description. This has the "dark" finish--a shaded see-thru walnut type stain. The condition is exceptional for it's age. Comes with nice original gray hardshell case. Asking $850 plus shipping. Please email for pics or with questions.
Thanks,

Dana, you're killing me here. My first steel guitar was the six string version of yours. I still hear the sound of that pickup in my head, and I really miss it. It had more presence than any other guitar I've owned.
Mine was red. Is that a solid brown finish, or can you see the wood grain through it?

Hi there olde buddy: I have a dbl-8 of that same model; it's a 1965 version that I have; same color; same configuration; same case.
I paid $375 "new" and have had few offers for twice that amount during the past several years.
Just sharing with you.

bOb: The finish is a "see thru" stain--shows the grain, but their ain't much of it! It's lighter in color than the Fenders as you can see in the pics. Yes bOb, you could relive your youth!
Ray:
You've got one of the nicest collections around my friend! And after hearing that you have some of these Ric's too, it got even better!!

Is that the original finish, Dana?
(I wonder if I could sneak that much out of my 401k...) |

bOb:
I have no reason to believe that it's been refinished as the overall guitar and case are so nice. The flocking on the back looks almost new, as does the chrome. It just looks "right". It's the only one that I've seen, but the catalog does describe a "dark" finish in addition to blonde.
