For Sale: ca. 1940's Vega 8-String Nonpedal Console Guitar. This guitar is super cool--like driving a custom 40's hot rod! Solid mahogany (I belive) body, with a gloss black finish, and chrome trim! Has neat large diameter knurled tuning knobs on the end of the guitar, sliding volume control, and five push button tone control switches labled: Sub, Bass, Normal, Treble, High. Pickup appears to be a double coil with two rows of non-adjustable pole pieces. Multi-colored fretboard markers, on a bound rosewood fingerboard. The 4 legs "press fit" into their sockets, vs. screwing on like a Stringmaster. The string spacing is the widest of any 8-stringer I've played--an ample .450 or so. The guitar is pretty hefty, due to it's solid wood construction--about on par with most D-8's. The condition is excellent, some minor finish dings and checking that you would expect on a guitar of this age. The case is decent, and appears to be tweed that was painted black. I like the separate leg compartment, with a latching cover that keeps the legs from falling out in transit. I just had my tech go through the guitar and clean up the wiring (had some noise and buzzing), and set it up. All in all, a very unique and cool guitar that you don't see often. Asking $600 plus shipping. Please email for pics.
Thanks,
Dana
