Hey Folks,
For trade a Speedy West Marlen. Here is the link from when I bought it: http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum9/HTML/000194.html
I'm looking for a U-12, or an incredible S-11, or S-12. A ZB a plus.
The sale price is $1,900 and that includes a brand new case from Wayne at Out West Pac-Seats.

Thanks Douglas.
Here are a couple of picks of this beauty when it left my house.
I played this Speedy West Marlen for a week before I sent it off to Joe Camacho; who sold it to Duncan> and I LOVED the way this one sounded....Just awesome.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Ricky. It is a beauty, and sounds a good as you say. I recently received my "dream steel", a totally restored ZB D-10 from Greg Jones and just don't play the Marlen anymore. It was getting sad in the closet and needed to be played. I think I hear it crying at night. I just don't need two D-10's, and I'm really a ZB guy, or is it gui, at heart. The only difference between the time you sent it, and now, is a scratch about 1 1/2" long that suspiciously looks like a friend of mine's four year old's thumb in a pick. Hey, he wanted to play and said he was good...what was I supposed to do?
I'd really rather work out some sort of trade as opposed to selling it. Since my E9 is fairly listenable, and my C6 is not quite fit for human ears, yet, I'm looking for a really cool S-10, S-11, or S-12.
Your work was exquisite, though, Ricky.

I just had to go over to Duncan's to check this guitar out-great Marlen!I wish I could afford it-but I have too many irons in the fire-whoever gets this one will love it-it is extremely rare and plays and sounds awesome. Duncan is a nice guy to deal with--Brand new case also! This guitar is defintely a piece of steel guitar history-- According to Ricky Davis-this may be the only Speedy West Marlen in this color ever made.I looked underneath and it is clean--

Hey Bill. Thanks for the kind words. It was great having you over and meeting you last night. Looks like the Marlen may be going for a sale instead of a trade, if I can part with it, that is. Hope to see you playing around the beach.
Still looking for a great one for a trade. First buyer backed out.

One more bump on the Speedy West then it goes back in the closet for a spell. I gotta get back to the ZB and not worry about selling/trading this one. Thanks for all the interest.

b0b, you can lock this one up. The Speedy West Marlen is gong back in the closet for a while. I appreciate all the interest and emails I received. The good news is that I got to meet Billy Gambrell out of all this

Well, after a couple of weeks of playing the Marlen, and a slight adjustment of the amp, I've decided to keep it. I just don't think I'm going to be able to find a U-12, or S-12 that can compare with the sound of this old piece of wood and gadgets. Thanks again to everyone who sent emails. It really sounds that fantastic. I just need to work it into the rotation with the ZB.
