That Serial number is listed as a 1966 in the chart at http://www.steelguitar.com/resource/pushpullinfo/d10pushpull_sn.htm

but there is a note that says the chart might not be 100% accurate.

Sounds like a very desirable instument.

Joey A-The accuracy of that chart has been debated here before-My '66 bolt on is #1019D according to their info that number would be prior to the '66 model year serial #'s

Jerry,
My apologies for the hijacking of this thread.

Paul and Joey,

I see that S/N's fall "outside" the published ranges.

Note Paragraphs 2 and 3 in the "Disclaimer" text from that page. Paul's S/N may have been from an invoice book. Or, it could have been serialized earlier and then built in '66. Jerry's S/N could have been serialized earlier and then built and/or sold in '67.

These anomolies do not negate the usefulness or basic accuracy of the chart. It's a guide. The chart information was taken from a copy on Emmons company stationary given to me by an Emmons customer who had in his possesion 5 or 6 Emmons P/P guitars at that time.

On the other hand, I wonder if this discussion will really aid in the sale of Jerry's guitar.

quote:
Please Note: These serial numbers apply to D-10's only. After each number, the letter "D" is stamped. Great care has been taken to verify the accuracy of this information with various "Push-Pull Experts" around the U.S. However, we cannot guarantee the information given in the above chart is 100% accurate.

In the years 1964 and 1965, it appears that serial numbers were taken off of the sales invoice; and that these guitars were not consecutively numbered (as they may have used an invoice or 2 in between guitar sales for pickup sales or string sales, etc.)

Also, at a certain point, it is possible that the endplates were serialized ahead of guitar construction and put on a shelf, and then taken down and assembled into a guitar at a later date. Therefore, it is possible that some numbers may fall into one year earlier or later than shown on the chart.

Back to Jerry's guitar-How many knees? Factory installed? Others added later? perhaps with genuine Emmons parts? What about the case and condition?
