I hate to do it, but I need to diversify my collection, so this guitar has to go. L.A. luthier R.C. Allen built this one for me a few years back. He has built guitars for Merle Travis, Joe Maphis, Bob Saxton, and others. Here are some of the features:

18" Laminated Birdseye Maple Body
Natural Finish
Maple Neck
Grover Imperial Tuners
Bigsby Tailpiece with long "Travis" arm, as well as origninal arm
Fancy "rope" body trim top and back--also used to trim pickguard and "Travis" type armrest
Ebony fingerboard with cloud inlays
Headstock inlay like Travis' guitar
2 Custom Wound Fralin P90 Pickups
Custom Tweed Case
What else can I say--it looks and sounds awesome! Has a real '50's Travis/H. Thompson Super 400 vibe
I thought I'd try here before moving it out on consignment, so I could take a bit less selling outright--asking $2350.
Call or email for more details.
Thanks,
Dana

I've seen and played these at the Vintage shows in LA, and they are some of the best! Finest quality, beautifull instruments. If I weren't such a hack, Allens would get my cash.

Thanks for your input Loni--you're right, this is one of the best, in appearance, playabilty, and tone. BTW, the neck is a very comfortable rounded profile, with an 1 11/16" nut width. The body is a bit slimmer than a Super 400, at 3" deep. I find it makes the guitar much more comfortable to play. I have pics now for those interested.
Thanks,
Dana

Wow Dana, I'd forgotton about those guitars. I remember them from my old SoCal days. Do you remember Hal Southern from the Frontiersmen and Joanie who did a western type of thing. Hal had an Allen guitar which was very similar to the one you're talking about. He used to bring it to the old Squeakin' Deacon Sunday morning radio show in Southgate. For anyone who's never seen one of R.C. Allen's guitars, they're of a very high quality in workmanship, sound, playability and all. Well worth what Dana's asking for it.........JH
