I just acquired an old Fender 6 string lapsteel. The serial # is 8874. This guitar has an off white pearl finish and is in mint condition. I am curious to know its age and approx. market value. It really has a good sound.
Thanks

It could be one of a couple different models, although my guess is that you have a Fender Champ. You can't really tell the age from the serial number too well; a better option is to look under the tuners or pickup assembly for a date of manufacture.
Check GuitarBase for an indication of what dealers are asking for similar instruments.

Brad, thanks for the response. I have looked all over for a date but was unable to locate one. I am going to take the guitar to Roy Thomas to have him take a look at it. It very well may be a Champ.
