Here the gist of what I started with to learn a little bit of speed. It also took me from the world of exclusively palm blocking to mostly pick blocking. I believe this allowed my hand to relax more and play faster. Palm blocking is still there when you need it and some riffs are better sounding with it. There are 3 riffs tabbed out below with sound files and notation at the bottom to indicate which finger picks and blocks each note. For more details, see the posting at my web site here.
