Can anyone help me with this tune? I don't expect to find any tabs, but perhaps there are other songs that use these C6 licks that yall can point me to. Here's a link:

That sounds like it could be E9.
Jody Cameron has some material for getting C6 stylings on the E9 neck, as well as basic C6 instruction.

FWIW, I believe that was Bobby Black playing C6 on "Smoke, Smoke".
He is a master of playing short scale-like phrases that sound like they were played on E9.

Most of that track is textbook western swing C6th using no pedals, P5, P6, and P7 individually to get 6th and 9th chords. But in a few places Bobby Black pulls out some hot licks all his own.
I "sing" this song, by the way. It's a real crowd pleaser, even without those hot licks. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
