I've been working on Panhandle Rag for 6 string C6, translating from the G6 version I learned from Cindy Cashdollar, and thought I'd seek some help from the more experienced non-peddlers. I'm transposing it to E, which is where I hear it should be, so any input is appreciated. Here's what I've got of the first phrase.

I like it when the first opening notes ring a little. More like the original I think.

You might want to get a copy of Jerry Byrd's tab of the tune from Scotty's and a copy of his album with it to get some different ideas of his spin on the song. His tab and recording are different from each other and he does some really cool things in both . One thing he does do in the album I "borrowed " forom the beginning section is doing a pulloff on the first string from fret 3 to open to hammer on at the 2nd fret and pulloff to open

This is how I like to play that opening phrase ... a quick grace note from the 11th fret third string to the 12th fret first string and slide down to land on the 7th fret - all with one pick attack. Third fret gliss to the 4th fret is a single pick attack too.

Here's a link to a Panhandle Rag thread that might give you some more ideas. Listen to the C6 version that's linked to, it's awesome.
