It seems to me that the B+C pedal combination is very useful. I've heard/read folks talking about how they use the A+B combination 90% of the time. But I find myself using B+C nearly as much as the other combo. B+C is especially usefull for melodies.
You can do A LOT of stuff with those 2 pedals and the F and Bb levers. For example...

You're right on Gary. I use B&C quite a bit now in my playing. Two tunes that are using it a lot are: "Stars on the Water", and "Lotta Leavin' Left To Do" amongst many others as well. |

Thanks for that Gary,
I think I was just lazy when it came to the B/C pedals and so I was always a little uncomfortable with them. What changed it for me was a set of tunes with tab that i got from Dick Meis..he uses them quite ofter. I use them more now and of course along with that comes all the new possibilites and sounds......

I use them some but would like to learn more. It seems to me that I saw a course at one time that focused on the C pedal. I searched all the online vendors and couldn't find one. Was I just dreaming or was a course ever written?

If you find a course on the B+C combination, I'd like to know about it. Might be good stuff.

Or maybe I should just write one. Anybody got some B+C licks that should be included?

Any additional B-C tab you care to post would be welcomed - the last one, simple as it was, was an eye opener for this 2.5-year beginner!

Only pick the first chord. Use vibrato and volume pedal to make all following chords the same level.
Practice in all keys.

I don't no if it is still available but about 81 when i was first changing over to pedal steel from Guitar. Paul franklin , I believe it was had a tape course out on just the C pedal. I don't realy get where people say they use the A+B combination more than the B+C combination. Almost every course or even lick anymore I see tabbed out the steel player is using the B+C combination in the licks and phrases.

I tend to use B+C pedals when copping John Hughey licks.
Heres my take on the 'Look At Us' intro:

Those are the pedals I use a lot 'cause I like to play a lot in the rock-style.
Like a couple of steelers did before me I to like to get more kinds of music out of the steel guitar and not only the old-fashioned styles.Though I play the older genres still the most.

This is not in tab form, but perhaps some will find it helpful.
Major Scale in G
Strings 4 & 6
The root will be on the 4th string and the low 3rd harmony is on the 6th
You can play the exact same positions for the same scale but instead of picking the 4th & 6th strings, pick the 3rd & 4th instead.
Your root will still be on the 4th and now your 3rd harmony will now be an octave higher than it was using the 4th & 6th
When I say open position, it means no pedals or levers engaged
When I say B&C, it means to press both the two pedals on the right at the same time before hitting the strings
Fret Position Notes(root)
3 OPEN G
3 B&C A
5 B&C B
8 OPEN C
10 OPEN D
10 B&C E
12 B&C F#
15 OPEN G
