Hey Gang, just out of curiosity, I'd love to see some E13 Tab for non pedal 8 posted. I'd like to compare the Don Helms version to the Leon McAullife version. What are the advantages of one as opposed to the other etc...

The top 4 strings of Leons E13 on 6 strings are are the same intervals as the middle 4 strings on a 6 string C6. Don Helms E13 is really E6 with the same intervals as C6, just up a major 3rd. Don mostly played on the top 6 strings of his E6 as did Little Roy Wiggins. Compare intervals between strings and use C6 as your point of reference when comparing the different tunings. Leons E13 is really a different animal than Don Helms E6 imho. It's weird there isn't any tab or studies out on this tuning, wonder why?

Here's my E13th+9 version of "Oklahoma Stomp"....
Part 1
Part 2
Get that little tasty song under your fingers and you won't need to experiment with any other tunings as this song alone will open the whole world up to ya Robbie; as far as this particular tuning goes.
Have fun.

Ricky, that's cool. Could you please put the chords above the tab notes by chance for the changes. Thanks...

Great, thank you very much Ricky. What recording would be best to hear this song done on non pedal? Also, I was wondering how your making your tab, looks real clean.

There is of course "Spade Cooley" with JM on steel version of this song.....and Buddy Emmons has a nice version of this song on his "Live at Expo" but is E9th pedal steel but my version on non-pedal will play right along with it.
I write all my tab on "notepad" in windows...yeeehaaa.

Hey Ricky, I set this tuning up on my National D-8 and all I can say is WOW! I understand now why several of the guys on No Peddlers said that, given the choice they would use this version of the E13 in conjunction with a C6th tuning everytime. There isn't a real big learning curve here if you're already use to playing E9. I believe I'll stick with this one for a while.

Thanks,

Robbie Bossert
