Well I gave it a quick listen and sounds like the ole 5 and 8 string lick with some heavy vibrato and slide thing. Is that what your talkin' about Les? Give it whirl and see what ya come up with.

Oh the lick he his playing preceeding the 4 chord sounds like a 7/9 chord with vibrato also. What ever key the song is in go two frets back from pedal down 1 chord and play strings 2; 3 and 5 with A and B pedals down. Then it goes to the 4 chord and then play strings 5 and 8 no pedals and shake that bar man and slide on down to the pedal down 4 chord. Make since?
I don't have a pedal steel handy right now; but if that don't help just from me listening to it; I can work it out for ya this weekend when I get home; or someone may have exactly the part for you by then.

Yeah, thats a great lick. It brings back memories of when I was first starting out. A lot of the songs coming out then had Pete playing on them. I was actually pretty good at playing his style once. Through the years, that technique has somehow faded into oblivian. Thanks Paul for bringing it back to life.
